Product information

Drug Name: Phosphatidylserine

Drug Uses:

Phosphatidylserine is a phospholipid compound derived from soy lecithin that plays an essential role in cell membrane composition and intercellular communication. Phosphatidylserine is a major structural component of neural membranes where it assists in the conduction of electrical impulses and facilitates the activity of neurotransmitters involved in learning, memory, and mood. These properties make Phosphatidylserine an ideal supplement for the support of cognitive function.

How Taken:

As a dietary supplement, take 3 to 6 pills daily, or as directed by a health care practitioner.

Drug Class and Mechanism

Phosphatidylserine and other phospholipids are structural components of brain neurons that can enhance cell-to-cell communication. Studies have shown the ability of supplemental phosphatidylserine to support healthy cognitive function. It may enhance healthy memory and thinking ability by facilitating neuronal communication. It may also support the body during stressful times. Best Phosphatidylserine contains phosphatidylserine and other essential nutritional cofactors in a liquid softgel, providing added stability to these key phospholipid molecules.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Phosphatidylserine, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Storage

Store Phosphatidylserine at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Keep Phosphatidylserine out of the reach of children and away from pets.

Warnings/Precautions

Using PHOSPHATIDYLSERINE please be cautious with these combinations: Drying medications (Anticholinergic drugs) interacts with PHOSPHATIDYLSERINE

Some drying medications are called anticholinergic drugs. Phosphatidylserine might increase chemicals that can decrease the effects of these drying medications.
Some drying medications include atropine, scopolamine, and some medications used for allergies (antihistamines) and for depression (antidepressants).

Medications for Alzheimer's disease (Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitors) interacts with PHOSPHATIDYLSERINE

Phosphatidylserine might increase a chemical in the body called acetylcholine. Medications for Alzheimer's disease called acetylcholinesterase inhibitors also increase the chemical acetylcholine. Taking phosphatidylserine along with medications for Alzheimer's disease might increase effects and side effects of medications for Alzheimer's disease.
Some acetylcholinesterase medications include donepezil (Aricept), tacrine (Cognex), rivastigmine (Exelon), and galantamine (Reminyl, Razadyne).

Various medications used for glaucoma, Alzheimer's disease, and other conditions (Cholinergic drugs) interacts with PHOSPHATIDYLSERINE

Phosphatidylserine might increase a chemical in the body called acetylcholine. This chemical is similar to some medications used for glaucoma, Alzheimer's disease, and other conditions. Taking phosphatidylserine with these medications might increase the chance of side effects.
Some of these medications used for glaucoma, Alzheimer's disease, and other conditions include pilocarpine (Pilocar and others), and others.

Possible Side Effects

Phosphatidylserine is not known to have any side effects if taken as per the prescribed dosage.

More Information

Recently, Phosphatidylserine has become popular among athletes who hope it can help them build muscle more efficiently. This use is based on weak evidence that PS slows the release of cortisol following heavy exercise. Cortisol is a hormone that causes muscle tissue to break down. For reasons that are unclear, the body produces increased levels of cortisol after heavy exercise. Strength athletes believe that this natural cortisol release works against their efforts to rapidly build muscle mass and hope that PS will help them advance more quickly. However, only two double-blind placebo-controlled studies of PS as a sports supplement have been reported, and neither one found effects on cortisol levels.

   Help and FAQ

What's the difference between generic drugs and brand-name drugs?
Actually, they both differ only in price and name, all the rest is the same. Generic drugs, as well as brand-name medications, have the same dosage, effects, including side effects, risks, strength and safety. They are like true copies of brand-name medications.

What makes generic drugs cheaper?
As a rule, in order to release and patent a certain drug the manufacturer should meet a range of requirements like developing, researching, marketing and promoting of a new medication. Overall, it is time- and money-consuming procedure, which leads to price growth. Speaking about generic drugs, they are usually brought unregistered onto the market, thus the manufacturer is exempt from paying taxes. However, the lower price here doesn't yield lower effectiveness. As a rule, the manufacturers of generic drugs are known reputable pharmaceutical companies.
